Abstract
Cet article propose une discussion critique des arguments pour et contre les actions positives en faveur des femmes visant en particulier l’augmentation de leur niveau de représentation dans les instances politiques. La thèse défendue par l’auteure affirme que l’exclusion des femmes de la vie politique fut une décision paradoxale qui, d’un point de vue logique, contredit les principes d’égalité et de liberté qui constituent le fondement de l’idée de démocratie. Si l’on justifie des actions positives par des principes essentialistes, on revient aux mêmes contradictions qui furent à la source de l’exclusion des femmes de la sphère publique. L’auteure prône un retour de la logique politique au sein des débats qui animent les questions d’égalité.
