Abstract: Based on an impressive amount of quantative data, the authors discuss the consequences of Canada’s population dynamics in great detail. They address the plunging fertility rates, changing family composition, the growing instability of marriage and their impact on family life for present and future old persons. This article is based on research presented at the International Conference, “Ageing Societies: The Dynamics of Demographic Change in Canada” organized by ICCS in 2010.
