Abstract
Depuis un quart de sicle, les tudiants germanophones ont eu la chance de pouvoir compter sur YArbeitsbuch zum Neuen Testament de H. Conzelmann et A. Lindemann. Sa premire dition date en effet de 1975 et, en 1998, paraissait la douzime, qui fait l'objet de la prsente traduction et adaptation franaises. Depuis le dcs de Conzelmann, survenu en 1989, les rditions du Arbeitsbuch ont t assures par A. Lindemann, qui y a aussi apport une contribution personnelle, particulirement pour la 12 e dition. C'est donc un classique qui est dsormais accessible aux tudiants et au public francophones. Les introductions au Nouveau Testament en langue franaise ne manquent pas ; nanmoins on peut dire que la traduction du Arbeitsbuch ne fera double emploi avec aucune de celles qui existent, et mme qu'elle vient combler un vide. En effet, nous ne possdons pas en franais un guide aussi ample dans sa conception (depuis les mthodes et les instrumenta jusqu' l'histoire du christianisme primitif), aussi dtaill dans le traitement des questions et, au demeurant, aussi lisible et aussi facile utiliser. De ce point de vue, par sa conception du moins, car, sur le plan du contenu, les deux ouvrages sont complmentaires, le Guide de Conzelmann et Lindemann offre davantage que la monumentale Introduction to the New Testament du regrett Raymond E. Brown, parue en 1997 (Doubleday). Il faut donc tre reconnaissant au traducteur et l'diteur d'avoir dot le public francophone d'un si bel outil de travail.
