Abstract
La Conférence sur le devenir social et économique du Québec, qui s'est tenue en mars 1996, fut l'occasion de débattre des enjeux socioéconomiques actuels propres au Québec. Bien qu'il importe de distinguer le politique de l'économique, ces sphères se chevauchent en partie. Or, au Sommet, elles ont semblé sur des voies parallèles, et l'éthique, lien entre les deux, en a subi les contrecoups. Le renouvellement du pacte social, but ultime de la rencontre entre le gouvernement québécois et ses « partenaires », fut ainsi constamment confronté aux contraintes du néo-libéralisme. Quelle figure de la société québécoise s'est donc profilée dans les discours du Sommet ?
