Directeur du GRM (Groupe de Recherches Musicales) de 1966 à 1997, le compositeur François Bayle a été un témoin privilégié des mutations technologiques de ces 50 dernières années. Au cours de cet entretien, il revient sur sa rencontre avec Pierre Schaeffer et sur les débuts de la musique électroacoustique. Il évoque également les techniques et les principes qui sont le fondement de cette musique depuis 1958 tout en répondant à la question qui tourmente aujourd’hui de nombreux musicologues : est-il possible d’établir un parallèle entre la pratique des musiciens électroacoustiques et celle de certains musiciens populaires de la fin du XX e siècle?
