Abstract
Cet article décrit la présence chrétienne au Forum social mondial (FSM). On y montre d’abord que, contrairement au Forum économique de Davos, sa motivation première est la question sociale dans le contexte de la mondialisation. La participation chrétienne peut déjà être identifiée chez ses instigateurs, même si leurs motivations étaient principalement d’ordre social. Dans les éditions successives du FSM, il s’inscrit une présence chrétienne de plus en plus explicite, en trois niveaux : militante, mystique et théologique. On arrive ainsi à une lecture théologique du FSM qui comprend la réalisation simultanée du Forum mondial de théologie et libération, depuis 2005. Théologiquement, les formes différentes de la présence chrétienne au FSM démontrent la qualité kénotique de la foi chrétienne et sa condition de pèlerin, diaconale, martyriale et prophétique, aussi bien par sa forme d’existence en réseau de solidarité mondiale que par le signe du règne de Dieu.
