La certification ISO et la SST : étude empirique et résultats terrain

Abstract
Alors que la certification aux normes de la série ISO 9000 connaît un spectaculaire développement depuis une dizaine d’années, la présente étude vise à vérifier si le processus de certification ISO 9000 a un impact sur le bilan SST et à regarder de façon approfondie la dynamique d’ensemble du processus de normalisation en regard des changements opérés en SST. Les résultats de l’analyse quantitative n’indiquent pas de différences significatives en ce qui concerne le bilan SST entre les firmes certifiées et les firmes non certifiées (n = 317). Même si l’intégration ISO/SST ne s’est pas réalisée, les données qualitatives révèlent que 64 % des entreprises ont révisé leurs procédures d’entretien préventif et 39 % ont fait de même pour leurs procédures d’inspection préventive dans les mois qui ont suivi la certification. La certification aurait aussi permis d’améliorer les communications dans deux entreprises sur trois où les répondants notent des rencontres plus fréquentes, un meilleur suivi et une plus grande responsabilisation des travailleurs.
