Abstract
L’idée de faire tourner des habitations « hygiéniques » et des galeries de cure sanatoriale pour suivre le mouvement apparent du soleil, fait son chemin au début du XX e siècle. Ces innovations, forcément dispendieuses, parviennent parfois à s’imposer dans un contexte économique contraignant. L’article s’intéresse tout particulièrement à trois initiatives qui connaîtront des destins différents : la « Villa Tournesol » du Dr Pellegrin, le « Palais magique » des architectes Lécuyer et Jubault, et les « Solariums tournants » du Dr Saidman. Ces derniers, désormais bien documentés par les historiens, constituent certainement une des plus grandes réussites de cette architecture non conventionnelle.
