Abstract
L'idée d'un à-venir, indéterminé ou du moins difficilement déterminable, du religieux renvoie le théologien à un travail périlleux: définir sa pratique au regard d'une configuration dont les contours lui échappent et qui, en retour, ne cesse de le solliciter. L'auteur n'entend pas poser la question de l'«avenir de la théologie», ni a fortiori la question du lien entre un tel avenir et les déplacements actuels du religieux. Il s'intéresse plutôt à ce qui pourrait être dit de «la théologie» dans l'avenir, c'est-à-dire au discours que les théologiens pourraient être tentés de tenir sur eux-mêmes - exploration très partielle et lacunaire puisque limitée à l'analyse d'un seul modèle de «figuration théologique» : un modèle inspiré d'une lecture du philosophe américain Richard Rorty.
