La famille est un des lieux d'expression privilégiés du don. Par le biais de prestations matérielles et symboliques il s'y manifeste un état de dettes positif, c'est-à-dire que chacun estime recevoir du groupe plus qu'il n'y apporte lui-même. Mais la vie familiale est parfois marquée par des périodes critiques. Il y a alors un risque que le calcul ou l'excès ne viennent défier l'esprit du don. Celui-ci peut-il s'en accommoder? C'est à ces moments que nous nous intéressons à partir d'une enquête qualitative réalisée auprès de quarante et une personnes (sept réseaux familiaux) dans les régions de Montréal et de Québec.
