Abstract
In Brief In this article I summarize recent results indicating that several basic electrophysiological properties of α-motoneurons change with both increases and decreases in neuromuscular activity. The properties that change are important in determining how easily these cells are recruited and their firing behaviors once recruited. α-Motoneurones respond to chronic changes in physical activity by changing electrophysiological properties that govern their performance during movement.
