<i>Antennulariella batistae</i> n.sp. and its <i>Capnodendron</i> and <i>Antennariella</i> synanamorphs, with notes on <i>Capnodium capsuliferum</i>

Abstract
An illustrated account is presented of the perithecia and two synanamorphs of the sooty mould Antennulariella batistae n.sp. Perithecia bear hyphoid appendages, asci are fissitunicate, and ascospores are hyaline and 1-septate. The hyphomycetous synanamorph Capnodendron trichomericola, type of this genus, is variable, with conidiophores and phragmoconidia usually shorter on the host but inordinately longer in agar cultures. Meristogenous, intercalary or terminal pycnidia of the Antennariella bahiensis synanamorph produce minute hyaline, ellipsoidal conidia. Studies of isotypes of Capnodium capsuliferum indicate that this epithet cannot be used for the new species of Antennulariella. A brief history of Capnodium capsuliferum and its nomenclatural variants is provided, indicating its relevance to the status of Antennella, Capnocrinum, Capnodina, and "Capnodenia."Key words: sooty moulds, Antennulariella, Capnodendron, Antennariella.
