Abstract
A medida que aumentan los intereses economicos en juego, paises grandes y pequenos, cercanos y lejanos, suben sus apuestas en el Artico. Mientras muchos analistas aventuran una creciente rivalidad, la region continua siendo una de las mas pacificas del planeta. Debido a los cambios en el clima y a los avances tecnologicos, la importancia geoestrategica del Artico crece a mayor velocidad que el deshielo de la zona. Esta region, que comprende una superficie 40 veces mayor que la de Espana, incluye el oceano Glacial Artico y las areas de tierra que lo circundan, pertenecientes a Groenlandia, Eurasia y America del Norte. Ocho son los paises considerados articos: Canada, Dinamarca (por Groenlandia), Noruega, Rusia, Estados Unidos, Suecia, Finlandia e Islandia
