Abstract
La correspondance d'Artaud avec Jacques Rivière peut être entrevue comme la manifestation d'une écriture symptomatique, qui interroge le statut de l'afect (chez Artaud antérieur au signe linguistique) et refuse la problématique de l'inspiration au profit d'une expérience de l'absence. À ce titre, ces lettres constituent un texte déterminant qui situe deux stratégies créatrices diamétralement opposées à l'occasion d'un puissant «transfert littéraire»: valorisation, chez Artaud, d'une incomplétude de l'acte d'écriture (d'où le recours aux motifs de l'hallucination négative, du clivage de la dépersonnalisation ...); recherche d'une esthétique linéaire, unifiante, chez un Rivière qui adopte le statut ambigu de confesseur et de juge.
