Abstract

fetched live from OpenAlex

For the better part of the past decade, whenever I have written a letter to the editor, it has often been to express a common frustration: the meekness of the pharmacy profession. It is thus with a feeling of wonderment that I read the recent editorials by Dr. Davies and Dr. Tsuyuki, “Self-denigration in pharmacy: Words to ban from the pharmacy lexicon”1 and “Self-denigration in pharmacy: Actions that should be curtailed.”2 Their proclamations are bold, provocative—and necessary to change the present narrative. Indeed, perceptions matter. Words matter. Actions matter. A significant step forward for the profession would be to create an environment where pharmacists interpreting lab values, diagnosing (there, I used the word) and treating are simply routine acts. In short, we need to stop wasting the clinical skills of pharmacists as a health care resource.

Not calibrated prevalence, not ground truth. Human validation pending. The Gemma side is a direct model label for every work in the frame, read from the title-only record. The Codex side is a classifier learned from the 10,348 direct Codex labels and calibrated to design-weighted sample rates; fields without enough sample support carry no Codex call. Candidate is the union of the two sides; consensus is their intersection. These outputs are machine_predicted_unvalidated and are not human labels.

Machine scores (provisional)

The two teacher heads of the student model, read on this work. A score orders the frame for review; it never asserts a category, and the validation status ships verbatim with every row.

Baseline scores from an immature model (maturity gate not passed, 7 training rounds). Scores rank; they never assert a category.
