Cet article présente les résultats d’une analyse de l’espace publicitaire du quotidien montréalais Le Devoir effectuée sur la base d’un échantillon d’annonces couvrant les cent premières années d’existence du journal. Les publicités sont observées selon trois dimensions distinctes, soit l’aire géographique des annonceurs, la nature des objets publicitaires présentés et le secteur d’activité socioéconomique auquel appartiennent les annonceurs. L’observation de ces variables permet de dégager les tendances particulièrement significatives de l’évolution de la publicité dans Le Devoir sous l’influence des conjonctures économiques et sociopolitiques majeures.
