Abstract
Cet article explore le rapport médias/territoires d'un quartier d’une grande ville du nord de la France (Roubaix) en considérant plus spécifiquement les images et représentations produites par les journaux associatifs. Sur la base d’une analyse du discours de ces journaux de quartier, il s’agit d’étudier en quoi et comment le journal parle du quartier, de cerner le rapport au lieu et la conception du lieu qu’il évoque et sous-tend, et de déceler ce par quoi un tel territoire fait sens. Au cœur de la réflexion, c’est la notion d’imaginaire de quartier qui est travaillée. La perspective diachronique adoptée amène l’auteur, en conclusion, à identifier une conception sociopolitique derrière la vision spatiale du quartier et à avancer l’hypothèse que ces journaux contribuent aujourd’hui à enfermer le quartier sur son propre horizon spatial.
