Abstract
Cet article est une introduction à ce numéro spécial sur le néo-institutionnalisme. Il accomplit trois tâches. Tout d’abord, il contextualise l’émergence du néo-institutionnalisme dans la trajectoire de la science politique, principalement américaine. Dans ce contexte, il explique que cette approche est divisée en trois branches (historique, du choix rationnel et sociologique) dont il présente les variantes internes. Ensuite, il mesure l’étendue et l’importance des différences entre ces trois branches tout en discutant des conséquences de cette diversité. Ici, l’article suggère qu’une synthèse serait difficile et que l’hétérogénéité de l’approche ne devrait pas être vue comme une faiblesse. En dernier lieu, le texte présente les articles du numéro.
