La voix dans l’écriture, le timbre, l’intonation, l’accent, le rythme : c’est de ce travail de la voix en filigrane — « comme à voix basse » ou murmurée — que l’auteur s’approche ici. Dans une traversée de plusieurs textes récents du philosophe où la tonalité soi-disant autobiographique se fait plus insistante (La contre-allée, « L’Animal que donc je suis », Le monolinguisme de l’autre et surtout « Un ver à soie »), elle interroge les effets de l’« aveu voilé », le lien essentiel qui relie, aux yeux (et à l’oreille) de Derrida, le secret à la littérature. Qu’est-ce qui fait la différence de Derrida lecteur, sinon précisément ce qui (se) passe soudain entre confession et fiction de soi, réel et virtuel, vérité et simulacre, comme entre sens propre et figuré ? Qu’est-ce qui fait qu’on y croit au rêve de l’Enfant aux Vers, au phantasme de la voix nue, d’« une langue toute crue » ? Pour le savoir (sans le voir), il faut suivre à la trace les inflexions de cette voix se cherchant à l’aveugle, touchant à la chance du poème.
