Abstract
Le pagne wax est un tissu en coton imprimé de qualité supérieure, que les femmes africaines utilisent pour la confection de leurs vêtements. Son intérêt se trouve dans les messages que le pagne wax, véritable miroir social, véhicule ; messages qui se situent entre l’identité culturelle de celle qui porte le pagne et l’affirmation de la « néo-africaine », entre sa position sociale et son milieu. Prenant acte de sa présence au quotidien, le pagne peut être vu comme un véritable média et, pour qui sait « lire » ses messages, servir de moyen d’information sur les « événements du jour ».
