Abstract
In the 1960s, the Second Vatican Council called us to a new way of being church. Concurrently, Pope John XXIII identified the shift in women's consciousness occurring in society as one of the signs of our times. In the last thirty-five years, these two horizons have fused and the resulting fresh perspective has given rise to new theological reflection, new pastoral practice, and new challenges, especially concerning women and the exercise of ministry in the Roman Catholic Church.
