Abstract
Le paradoxe des entreprises insolvables qui contractent régulièrement de nouvelles dettes constitue la motivation principale de cette recherche. Les tests statistiques effectués sur un échantillon de 62 PMI mettent en évidence deux principaux facteurs explicatifs de ce comportement financier au Cameroun : le taux des actifs immobilisés et le capital social du dirigeant, c’est-à-dire la capacité des actifs à servir de garanties, et la possibilité qu’offrent les réseaux relationnels de contourner les normes ou d’accéder aux sources et circuits informels alternatifs de financement. Cette étude montre la coexistence au Cameroun de deux dimensions parallèles dans l’environnement des affaires. À côté du formel où le manque de confiance et de lisibilité entre les acteurs poussent les bailleurs de fonds aux excès prudentiels subsiste un univers informel où la confiance, la loyauté et la solidarité semblent constituer le socle des relations d’affaires.
