Abstract
La Nouvelle-Calédonie se caractérise par sa grande diversité linguistique. Or, dans ce POM (Pays d’Outre-mer), l’intégration scolaire et sociale passe par l’apprentissage du français. Si l’école en métropole a opté pour un projet d’intégration des enfants de migrants, le problème se pose d’une toute autre manière en Nouvelle Calédonie, car pour les élèves océaniens, qui constituent la majorité de la population scolaire (kanak, wallisiens, futuniens,tahitiens, métis etc.), la motivation à apprendre le français ne va pas de soi. Partant de ce constat, la contribution esquisse quelques pistes de réflexionet d’action en vue de la prise en charge des élèves en détresse linguistique.
