Abstract
The environment for turnarounds should be excellent in 2006 with good economic growth in Canada, China and the U.S. and slow growth in most of the member countries of the European Union and in Japan. The U.S. is likely to enter a short, mild recession in 2007. This will slow world growth dramatically and supply many opportunities to turnaround specialists. Renewed global growth in 2008 on the back of a strong U.S. rebound should help most of these new turnaround companies prosper. There is little risk of inflation and long-term interest rates should remain around 4.5 percent in the U.S. and lower in Europe and Japan. <b>TOPICS:</b>Private equity, developed, emerging, quantitative methods
