Résumé À partir de films étrangers et de série B tournés à Montréal au cours des dernières années, cette conférence interroge le regard que pose le cinéma sur la ville, son architecture et son espace urbain en fonction des notions d’identité, de lieu mais aussi, et surtout, de non-lieu. Peut-on imaginer une ville indéfinie ou atopique ? Pour la plupart, ces films ne cherchent à représenter la ville, ils ne la montrent pas, ils ne la filment pas. Par commodité de tournage, Montréal est transformée en décor et en lieu de production. La ville reste à peine identifiable, interchangeable elle devient tour à tour le théâtre du crime, le lieu de l’horreur, un champ de ruines et de vestiges, où se déroulent autant d’intrigues et d’histoires d’espionnage, de tueurs, de flics, de guerres.
