Cette note critique porte sur le numéro de la revue Société intitulé «Le chaînon manquant» qui propose une réinterprétation de la Révolution tranquille. Selon les auteurs, il faudrait comprendre l'événement comme l'aboutissement d'un processus caractérisé par la transformation de la société canadienne-française instituée dans l'Église et la famille élargie qui s'achève dans la formation d'une société québécoise dominée par la technocratie. Après avoir souligné la pertinence et la qualité des travaux publiés dans ce numéro, l'auteur de la note critique discute des principales thèses soutenues par les auteurs qui portent aussi bien sur le Canada française que sur la Révolution tranquille et la société québécoise actuelle.
