CAROTID BAROREFLEX MODULATES HEART RATE DURING RECOVERY FROM EXERCISE IN HUMANS
Bibliographic record
Abstract
Classical resetting of the carotid baroreflex (CBR) occurs during dynamic exercise in which the operating point (OP) relocates toward the threshold of the reflex and away from the centering point (CP). PURPOSE: To determine 1) the nature of CBR resetting during inactive recovery from exercise and 2) the effect of increased core temperature accompanying prolonged exercise on CBR function. METHODS: Nine subjects performed two exercise bouts: 3 min (no thermal load) and 15 min (thermal load) followed by inactive seated recovery. CBR function with neck pressure/neck suction was assessed before, during, and immediately after exercise (between min 4 to 10). RESULTS: There were no changes in maximal gain between baseline (−0.33 ± 0.08), exercise (−0.28 ± 0.03), or after exercise (−0.31 ± 0.03, −0.36 ± 0.04), 3 and 15 min, respectively. However, OP immediately relocated back towards CP after 3 min of exercise. However, after 15 min of exercise, the Δ OP-CP (22.9 ± 2.5) remained significantly greater than values during baseline (2.6 ± 4.4) and after 3 min of exercise (6.7 ± 2.6). CONCLUSION: During inactive recovery with no thermal load, BR control is comparable to baseline. However, when a thermal load is present, the ability to buffer hypotensive changes is reduced.

Full frame machine prediction
Teacher imitationNot calibrated prevalence, not ground truth. Human validation pending. The Gemma side is a direct model label for every work in the frame, read from the title-only record. The Codex side is a classifier learned from the 10,348 direct Codex labels and calibrated to design-weighted sample rates; fields without enough sample support carry no Codex call. Candidate is the union of the two sides; consensus is their intersection. These outputs are machine_predicted_unvalidated and are not human labels.

Machine scores (provisional)
The two teacher heads of the student model, read on this work. A score orders the frame for review; it never asserts a category, and the validation status ships verbatim with every row.
Baseline scores from an immature model (maturity gate not passed, 7 training rounds). Scores rank; they never assert a category.
score_only:v0-immature-baseline · verbatim from the scoring run: score_only means the number may rank works, and no category label ships from itClassification
machine, unvalidatedMachine predicted; a candidate call from one source (direct Gemma or distilled Codex), not a consensus.
