Abstract
La modernite quebecoise est largement definie par l'opposition de reperes esthetiques. La rupture entre rural et urbain a marque un imaginaire territorial qui laisse peu d'espace a l'invention de soi caracteristique de la modernite. Cet article interroge la pertinence de cette distinction et invite a la repenser en fonction des espaces periurbains du Quebec. Le caractere operatoire de cette categorie geoesthetique sera illustre par une relecture de Pieds nus dans l'aube (1946) de Felix Leclerc et un examen de la fortune critique de ce classique de la litterature quebecoise. La Haute-Mauricie de Pieds nus dans l'aube se presente comme un territoire aux frontieres floues par rapport a l'urbanite, un territoire presque problematique par les liens qu'il entretient simultanement a la tradition et a l'imaginaire.
