Abstract
Cet article analyse la réécriture littéraire de l'oralité traditionnelle par des poètes de langue portugaise (Manuel Bandeira) et française (Édouard Glissant), à partir de poèmes ayant comme thème central le carnaval, forme de résistance collective et sournoise. Le procédé implique une permanente réénonciation: le travail du sens dans la langue (ou les langues) se fait de manière plus accessible et directe dans une culture anthropophage comme la brésilienne tandis que, dans une culture diglossique comme la caribéenne, le même projet se réalise de façon plus contrainte et absconse. À travers ces constatations, l'auteure tente de dégager une typologie des cultures américaines issues du régime de la Plantation.
