Abstract
Prenant sérieusement en compte les travaux de Luc Brisson effectués sur le Parménide de Platon et acceptant leur conclusion qui veut que le Poème de Parménide ne renvoie pas à un être métaphysique (l’être) mais à un être physique (l’univers), cet article cherche à pousser cette analyse jusqu’à son terme ultime. Pour ce faire, nous nous interrogerons d’abord sur la réception actuelle de la pensée de Parménide. Ensuite, nous évoquerons les traces antérieures au néoplatonisme du Poème et de son auteur en cherchant à cerner au mieux quelle était, aux yeux des Anciens, la thèse réelle de Parménide. Enfin, en opposant le Poème au Timée, nous conclurons dans le sens de Brisson mais à partir de preuves nouvelles et d’une argumentation différente.
