It has been shown that fuzzy logic systems can arbitrarily approximate any nonlinear function and they can also be successfully applied to system modelling. This paper describes an efficient fuzzy identification method for nonlinear systems and signals. The proposed method proceeds in three steps, the first step is an ordinary fuzzy identification technique, but steps two and three are introduced in order to obtain an improved model with higher resolution. We note here that this technique can improve and correct efficiently any model obtained by any identification algorithm. Examples in the form of simulation studies are presented throughout the paper to demonstrate the effectiveness of the suggested method.
