Résumé À partir de données qualitatives recueillies à Montréal entre 1997 et 2000 auprès de réfugiés algériens, cet article explore le rôle de la « tradition musulmane » dans la construction du sens des expériences traumatiques et des séparations familiales secondaires à la violence organisée qui sévissait en Algérie dans les années 1990.
