Abstract
Abordant la question de l'établissement d'immigrants en région, l'auteure concentre son attention sur l'insertion d'entrepreneurs agricoles d'origine européenne dans quatre régions du Québec. Elle examine les modalités matérielles de leur insertion, soit leur établissement professionnel et social ainsi que leur implication dans les divers organismes de la société rurale. En plus de situer l'analyse de l'immigration dans un contexte non urbain, jusqu'ici peu abordé, l'étude qui couvre une quinzaine d'années permet de dégager une vision diachronique du processus d'insertion. Elle met en évidence des stratégies multiples et polyvalentes à partir, notamment, des réseaux formels et informels privilégiés par les répondants. Ces stratégies s'avèrent étroitement articulées à un projet de promotion économique et à une volonté de pleine participation à la vie locale.
