Abstract
Résumé Engageant une confrontation critique avec des positions qui mettent l’accent sur la valeursociale de la gouvernementalité néolibérale en tant que vision générale du monde et construction des individus, cet article souligne l’irréductibilité de la dimension économique du néolibéralisme. Une sous-estimation du rôle de l’économie dans l’analyse des pratiques gouvernementales néolibérales conduit à la « tentation d’un psychologisme fonctionnaliste », qui passe à côté des rapports complexes et bidirectionnels s’instaurant entre l’univers économique capitaliste et les formes des subjectivités qui l’habitent (leurs désirs, leurs croyances, leurs intérêts). Il n’y a pas d’antinomie entre le néolibéralisme comme forme de la société et le néolibéralisme comme rationalité économique. Le néolibéralisme peut alors être compris comme un moment essentiel (bien que mobile et pluriel) du capitalisme contemporain.
