En este estudio se examina el grado de incorporación de conocimiento sobre las culturas indígenas en los programas de formación docente Educación de Párvulos y Educación Básica de tres universidades chilenas, ubicadas en las regiones de Tarapacá, Valparaíso y Araucanía. Se analiza por una parte, los currícula, programas y perfiles profesionales y, por otra, las voces de los estudiantes de dichos programas. Los resultados revelan que la casi totalidad de los currícula de formación docente estudiados no incorporan saberes de las culturas ancestrales del país (aymara, quechua, pascuense, mapuche), como tampoco incluyen la interculturalidad como una opción de formación docente. Ello demuestra que la educación docente en los programas estudiados no constituye un puente eficaz en el proceso de formación que permita a los futuros profesores constituirse en actores para el cambio educativo, tampoco ofrecen una formación docente adecuada para actuar en contextos culturales con alta población indígena. Finalmente los programas analizados no incluyen las voces de aquellos que han sido históricamente marginados, como son los grupos indígenas del país.
