Les rêves, la mon et le désir d'immortalité Une étude des Gimi des Hautes-Terres de Papouasie-Nouvelle-Guinée Cet article traite des theories sur les rêves et la mort chez des populations mélanésiennes, à partir de l'idée maussienne de la partition de la personne (Essai sur le don, 1950). Les matériaux des Gimi des Hautes-Terres de Papouasie-Nouvelle-Guinée présentés par G. Gillison semblent indiquer que l'envol de l'âme hors du corps à la mort de la personne, dans un voyage pour féconder la forêt, est une alternative cosmique à l'union sexuelle et un projet d'immortalité. L'auteure montre que ce voyage d'une partie détachée de la personne, anticipé par les individus dans leurs rêves, peut être interprété d'après le modèle pour le don, tel que Mauss en a fait l'analyse.
