Abstract
Les populations marginalisées sont particulièrement présentes dans certains quartiers centraux. Or, ces quartiers qui montrent habituellement des signes de déclin font aussi généralement l’objet d’opérations de revitalisation qui visent à y attirer de nouveaux résidants et à y promouvoir de nouvelles activités économiques. Les populations marginalisées représentent alors des « nuisances » à la fois pour les autorités publiques, les investisseurs privés et les résidants. Les espaces qu’elles investissent font ainsi l’objet de conflits d’appropriation. Ces conflits sont analysés à partir d’une recherche menée dans deux quartiers centraux, à savoir Centre-Sud à Montréal et Saint-Roch à Québec.
