Résumé Cet article présente les résultats d’une étude qui compare les perceptions que les consommateurs québécois et argentins ont de cinq pays des Amériques – le Canada, les États-Unis, le Mexique, le Chili et l’Argentine – au regard de la production de biens de consommation. Les résultats de l’étude montrent que les consommateurs argentins ont une meilleure opinion des produits en provenance d’Amérique du Nord que de ceux qui viennent d’Amérique latine. De façon générale, ils préfèrent les produits américains aux produits canadiens et ils ont tendance à évaluer de façon plus favorable les produits faits dans leur propre pays. Les consommateurs québécois jugent les produits fabriqués en Amérique du Nord nettement supérieurs à ceux qui sont fabriqués en Amérique latine. Ces résultats et d’autres ont une incidence sur la gestion, notamment en ce qui a trait aux décisions d’exportation de produits en provenance de pays latino-américains et aux politiques gouvernementales destinées à gérer l’image du Canada en tant que pays producteur de biens de consommation.
