Abstract
L’auteur présente les résultats d’un sondage réalisé en octobre 1980 qui visait à saisir les pronostics des répondants quant au nombre d’enfants qu’ils auront au cours de leur vie. De ces données se dégagent les conclusions suivantes: - les promotions de mariages d’après 1965 n’auront pas suffisamment d’enfants pour assurer le renouvellement des générations; - la famille de 2 enfants jouit d’une grande popularité; - les prévisions faites par les répondants qui se sont mariés après 1970 sont empreintes d’une grande incertitude; - l’intensité avec laquelle la fécondité prévue s’est réduite entre 1971 et 1976 semble en voie de s’atténuer; on ne peut toutefois prendre pour acquis que les prévisions de 1980 vont se réaliser, bien au contraire.
