Abstract

fetched live from OpenAlex

We have observed five Bok globules (CB 003, CB 034E, CB 054, CB 068, and CB 230) in the continuum near a wavelength of 850 μm with a new imaging polarimeter at the James Clerk Maxwell Telescope and made a CO J = 3-2 line observation of one globule (CB 068). The globule CB 068 has a linear polarization near 10%, about 4 times as high as in previous observations of star-forming cores near the same wavelength. CB 068 may be a young class 0 object, being detected with IRAS at long wavelengths only and having a weak CO outflow. The strong linear polarization in CB 068 suggests that some cold Bok globules have highly ordered magnetic fields and environments which provide good conditions for grain alignment. A scenario to remove turbulence from the centers of Bok globules is proposed, based on a strong magnetic field alignment.

Fetched live from OpenAlex and de-inverted. Abstracts are not stored in this database: the inverted indexes are 8.6 GB of the frame’s 9.3 GB of text, and the host has 13 GB free.

Not calibrated prevalence, not ground truth. Human validation pending. The Gemma side is a direct model label for every work in the frame, read from the title-only record. The Codex side is a classifier learned from the 10,348 direct Codex labels and calibrated to design-weighted sample rates; fields without enough sample support carry no Codex call. Candidate is the union of the two sides; consensus is their intersection. These outputs are machine_predicted_unvalidated and are not human labels.

Machine scores (provisional)

The two teacher heads of the student model, read on this work. A score orders the frame for review; it never asserts a category, and the validation status ships verbatim with every row.

Baseline scores from an immature model (maturity gate not passed, 7 training rounds). Scores rank; they never assert a category.
