Timpson, une entreprise de service familiale située en Grande-Bretagne, se démarque par le style de gestion coloré de son propriétaire qui est basé sur la décentralisation du pouvoir décisionnel. Le système de contrôle de gestion qui en découle est caractérisé par une culture familiale forte s’appuyant sur les valeurs d’honnêteté, de respect, de soutien, de confiance et d’entraide. Cette culture s’accompagne d’un nombre restreint de contrôles bureaucratiques et de quelques procédures présentées sous forme de bandes dessinées. L’exemple de cette entreprise permet de tirer des leçons en ce qui concerne la façon d’implanter un contrôle de gestion, de présenter celui-ci et d’en accroître l’efficacité.
