Abstract
Une question très discutée parmi les commentateurs des Recherches philosophiques de Wittgenstein est celle de savoir s'il souscrit à une conception « communautaire » ou, plutôt, à une conception « individualiste » des notions de signification et de ce que c'est que « suivre une règle ». J'examine cette question en la plaçant dans le contexte d'une interprétation de l'argument qu'il avance contre la possibilité d'un langage privé. J'essaierai de montrer que, malgré les objections soulevées par les tenants de l'interprétation « individualiste », on peut donner une lecture plausible de son argument dans la cadre d'une conception « communautaire » des règles.
