Abstract
Cet article vise, à travers l'étude de Maigret à New York et Johnny Metal et le dé de jade , à comparer la façon dont Georges Simenon et Léo Malet s'emparent de la tradition américaine du roman noir. Pour leurs romans publiés en 1947, ces maîtres de la littérature policière inventent une intrigue qui se déroule à New York. Toutefois, tandis que Malet imite une esthétique "made in USA" et joue avec elle pour créer une poésie urbaine et onirique, Simenon, pour sa part, semblant rejeter en bloc la mythologie américaine, la prend en fait systématiquement à contrepied.
