Interrogeant les catégories conceptuelles qui gravitent autour de la notion de documentaire (fiction, vérité, réalité, vraisemblable), cet article les envisage à partir de certaines configurations filmiques, mais aussi à partir de l’état spectatoriel tel qu’il est sollicité par certaines consignes spécifiques au « type » documentaire. L’étude de la problématique de la « documentante » permet d’examiner ces deux modes fondamentaux que sont la monstration et la narration dans un contexte comparatif : celui du potentiel documentaire spécifique à différents médias iconiques.
