Zur numerischen Simulation der Transportverhältnisse und der chemischen Reaktionen im Zementdrehrohrofen wird eine CFD-Software mit einem Werkzeug zur Berechnung komplexer thermochemischer Gleichgewichte kombiniert. Wärme- und Stofftransportvorgänge im Ofen werden mit der CFD-Software und einem vereinfachten Modell der Klinkerbildungsreaktionen ohne Berücksichtigung der Nebenkomponenten berechnet. Aus diesen Ergebnissen wird ein Prozessmodell entwickelt, in dem die chemischen Reaktionen als Abfolge thermochemischer Gleichgewichtszustände dargestellt sind. Mithilfe dieses Prozessmodells kann die Einbindung von Nebenkomponenten in den Klinker in guter Übereinstimmung mit Messwerten berechnet werden. Die Ausbildung von Verdampfungs/Kondensationskreisläufen im Ofen wird qualitativ gut wiedergegeben.
