Abstract
Twig blight of the medicinal plant mamaki is very common in the wild on the island of Hawaii. This new disease was shown to be caused by Botryosphaeria ribis. The fungus also infected leaves of mamaki and produced blackish spots of various sizes and shapes. Lesions on the leaf may expand and reach the petiole and twig. Twig blight of mamaki can originate from direct infection of twigs by B. ribis as well as from leaf infection by the fungus.Key words: Botryosphaeria ribis, mamaki, Pipturus albidus, twig blight, leaf spot.
