Abstract
Les institutions religieuses sont exemptes du paiement de la taxe foncière générale. Cette exemption remonte au début de la colonie. Dans la première partie, la présente étude retrace l'évolution de l'exemption au fil des modifications législatives. Ses origines, l'analyse des fondements constitutionnels et les guides d'interprétation permettent aujourd'hui la remise en question de cette exemption. Dans la seconde partie, un relevé de la jurisprudence sur les conditions d'application démontre un écart certain par rapport à la volonté du législateur. Enfin, l’auteure s'interroge sur les raisons justifiant le maintien d'une telle exemption.
