Abstract
Portant sur un projet dont on peut se demander s’il est réalisable dans sa forme idéalisée, le discours que tiennent les acteurs publics sur les autoroutes de l’information incite à réfléchir. Ce discours fait du projet un impératif de la modernité et une solution incontournable aux difficultés économiques, politiques, sociales et culturelles. Pourtant, les gouvernements ont mené peu de recherches approfondies sur la contribution de ces réseaux numériques au progrès social effectif. Cet article vise à démystifier ce discours en étudiant les représentations sociales auxquelles il renvoie. Ce discours, bien que présenté comme une parole attrayante et dépolitisée, sert des fins politiques.
