En rupture avec les formes traditionnelles d’insertion, les jeunes de la rue, à Montréal, institueraient de façon précaire un certain usage de la marge sociospatiale urbaine dans la perspective d’une recomposition identitaire. Cette marge sociospatiale est présentée comme une organisation géographique structurant les pratiques d’appropriation de lieux. L’auteur nous invite à comprendre théoriquement le lien qui unit le processus identitaire à l’espace. C’est à partir des concepts-clés d’espace transitionnel et de trajectoire géographique qu’il serait possible d’identifier un parcours géo-social des jeunes de la rue. Aussi, pour évaluer le potentiel de socialisation marginalisée des jeunes de la rue, il importe de considérer le contexte de revitalisation du centre-est de Montréal.
