Abstract
Abstract This is a conversation between Roberto Chené of New Mexico, cochair of the National Conference on Peacemaking and Conflict Resolution, and Janice Tudy‐Jackson, former director of victim services in New York City. It was recorded on October 26, 1998. They were asked to respond to the following question that faces community mediation centers throughout the country: “One of the ideals of community mediation is that its staff and volunteers reflect the community that they serve. Unfortunately, this is only an ideal. Many centers fall far short of this goal. What are your thoughts about this, and what can mediation centers do to try to achieve these ideals?”.
